December 24, 2025Zbigniew Hołdys – a Polish rock musician, composer, vocalist and guitarist, best known as a co-founder and the original leader of the legendary rock band Perfect. He was born on December 19, 1951, in Lublin, Poland, and began his music career in his teens, performing in early bands and winning a prize at the FAMA festival for his composition “Hymn do zachodzącego słońca”.
In the late 1970s he formed Perfect, with whom he helped create some of the most enduring hits of Polish rock, including “Nie płacz Ewka”, “Autobiografia” and “Chcemy być sobą”.
Hołdys also worked as a session musician and collaborator with artists such as Maryla Rodowicz, 2 plus 1 and Anna Jantar early in his career, and participated in the influential I Ching recording project alongside other prominent Polish rock musicians.
Beyond performance and songwriting, he hosted music television programs — including Hołdys Guru on MTV and TVP2 — and has been active in various music-related roles throughout his career.
